Help CPS meet the challenge to defend public education

Thanks so much to each of you who have contributed to CPS's Meet the Challenge: Defend Public Education campaign. We greatly appreciate your support, especially now, when there are so many urgent needs and worthy causes. Among them is the future of our public schools, during and post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 1982, CPS has been here, fighting for resources for our schools and for a whole child education for every child. And we've fought privatization and the overuse and misuse of standardized testing to realize our vision of an engaging, high-quality public education for all.

To continue this critical work, we need your support.

The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted and exacerbated all the inequities and obstacles long faced by our low-income students, students of color, English learners and students with disabilities.

So we must redouble our efforts to ensure the promised funding comes to our most needy students and districts. And we need to continue the fight for a moratorium on high-stakes testing so our educators and students have time for meaningful learning, not narrow test prep.

To help us redouble our efforts, a generous donor has offered a $10,000 challenge grant. Your donation of any size will be matched, doubling its impact, through the month of May. (We’re three-quarters of the way to our goal, with contributions given since the challenge was first made!)
